I purchased a brand-new 2026 GMC Hummer EV from Santa Monica GMC on June 15, 2026, for approximately $115,000. Unfortunately, my ownership experience has been extremely disappointing from day one. The vehicle was delivered with 88 miles on the odometer. On the very first drive, warning messages appeared on the dashboard indicating a “High Voltage System Failure” and that the vehicle was unable to charge. At the same time, the air conditioning stopped working. These warnings appeared almost immediately after taking possession of the vehicle and did not go away. The vehicle currently has only 160 miles on it and has already suffered what appears to be a major electrical system failure. I immediately contacted the dealership and made them aware of the issue. The vehicle was subsequently towed back to the dealership, but I was informed that it could take approximately seven days before a technician would even begin diagnosing the problem, with no clear timeline for the repair afterward. I want to be clear that the staff and salesperson I dealt with were polite, professional, and courteous throughout the process. My frustration is not with them personally. My concern is with the lack of urgency in handling a brand-new vehicle that experienced a major failure on its very first drive. What makes this even more frustrating is that the dealership knew I live approximately two hours away each direction with traffic. When a customer purchases a new vehicle from that distance and the vehicle becomes inoperable almost immediately, I would expect a much greater effort to minimize the inconvenience and prioritize the repair process. To get another perspective, I contacted a GMC dealership much closer to my home. Their service department was sympathetic to the situation and indicated they would do everything possible to inspect and repair the vehicle as quickly as possible. They also expressed that, in their opinion, the selling dealership should have prioritized the repair given that the vehicle failed almost immediately after delivery. I also have concerns about whether these warning messages may have been present before I took delivery of the vehicle. The high-voltage system failure and charging errors appeared virtually immediately upon the first drive. I cannot say that with certainty, and I have no evidence that anyone at the dealership was aware of the issue, but it is difficult not to question whether the problem existed before delivery given how quickly it surfaced. I understand that manufacturing defects can happen, and I do not blame the dealership for the vehicle failure itself. However, when a customer spends over $100,000 on a brand-new vehicle and experiences a major system failure within the first few miles of ownership, I believe the response should reflect the seriousness of the situation. My experience has left me with one takeaway: when a brand-new vehicle experiences a major failure immediately after delivery, customers reasonably expect a prompt diagnosis and repair process. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Being advised that it could take at least seven days just to diagnose a vehicle with only 160 miles, with no clear timeline for repair, was disappointing. I hope GMC and Santa Monica GMC resolve this issue quickly and improve the way situations like this are handled in the future. Unfortunately, my first experience as a Hummer EV owner has been far from what I expected when purchasing a premium vehicle.

My incredible experience began from the time I spoke with the General Manager Atto I was greeted warmly and he really listened to my needs. It just so happened that they had the exact vehicle I was looking for and invited me to the dealership to look at the vehicle and take a test drive. . When I arrived at the dealership I was met Victoria who was my salesperson and she was excellent and made the buying process easy and personable.
